Amp Energy India to commission 120MW solar project in UP in a few months

XXth XX, 2020, New Delhi– India: Amp Energy India, a leading renewable energy company said that it will complete the construction of its 120 MWp open access solar power project in the state of Uttar Pradesh (UP) within the next few months.

The construction of the project that is spread across five locations of four districts- Bharaich, Shahjahanpur, Bareilly and Sitapur in UP is in full swing. With an estimated investment of Rs 450-500 crore, this plant will supply power to marquee commercial & industrial (C&I) customers under a long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for a period of 15-25 years.

Amp Energy India had won this project under the Uttar Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation Ltd’s (UPPTCL’s) tender for setting up of 340 MW open access power projects under UP Solar Policy, 2017.

The project will have a long- term impact on the social, economic and environmental development on the communities in the vicinity of the project sites making it an attractive investment destination in terms of job creation for the local community and assured long term rental income to farmers for the leased land.

The project has already generated over 1,200 jobs in engineering, construction and safety in the region with additional jobs to be created for Operation & Maintenance (O&M) of the project post commissioning.

In addition to this, the project will be instrumental in reducing CO2 emissions of approx. 41,40,000 MT which is equivalent to planting approx. 24 lakh trees over the complete lifecycle of the plant.

It recently participated in an industry event that deliberated on the solar market outlook in UP and held high level discussions on opportunities and challenges with participation from UPNEDA, discoms and leading industry players.
